I'm so excited to have contacted my good friend Tom Rucker a.k.a. "Trucker". Tom and I both played in the NIU marching band and NIU steel band together. I recently found out that he is on the island of Trinidad and Tobago playing in a steel band directed by another mutual friend of ours Seion Gomez. They are preparing for Carnival and working long hours no doubt. I have to admit hearing about Tom's blog (and the fact that it is becoming to difficult to send pictures vie email) inspired me to create this one. You can read all about Tom's adventures here:

Only in this day of age can I be in Japan, conversing with my friend from NIU, while he is in Trinidad.
As I wind down my first full week in Japan, I am excited about this blog as a new way to communicate with family and friends back home. Today was a particularly dreary day filled with clouds and rain in Honda City, Japan. Since my activities were restricted indoors, I practiced for about 4 hours and worked on this new site.
